Home » 660 Miles. Four Days. One Shared Mission – Our UK journey with UCC

Kingfisher Industrial, UCC Plakon and UCC Environmental completed a journey across the UK in February to strengthen partnerships, deepen technical alignment, and see first-hand how innovation is driving performance across our industry.

This journey enabled conversations on plant floors, technical discussions in control rooms, and real collaboration inside operating facilities.

Where it began

We were pleased to welcome Nick, Mark, Andreas and Fabian to the UK, starting at our head office in Kidderminster, where they met the wider Kingfisher team and saw the progress of our new facility. From there, we hit the road.

From Birmingham and Kidderminster to Sheffield, Selby to Hull and finally from Lynemouth to Manchester. Over four focused and productive days, we visited waste-to-energy plants, biomass power stations, and critical industrial facilities across the Midlands and the North of England.

Solutions in Operation

These facilities are balancing increasing regulatory expectations, operational pressures, and ambitious sustainability targets, all while keeping essential infrastructure running.

No two sites are the same. Each faces its own technical constraints, performance goals, and long-term planning considerations. Being on site, listening, observing, discussing is what enables tailored engineering rather than generic answers.

At every stop, one message was reinforced: our solutions enable every-day operational realities.

We work closely with and listen to our customers to provide tailored solutions for specific operational requirements. Whether it is waste transformed into reliable energy, emissions captured and controlled, water treated to meet stringent standards, or solids handled safely and efficiently, we have the experience and expertise to help.

Our ash handling solutions, crushers, extraction and system enhancements ensure consistent, reliable performance. Spare wear parts and wear resistant castings for precipitators, ash mixers, ash crushers and waste shredders, provide robust insurance for our customers to maximise the longevity of their processing equipment and minimises the impact of down-time.

We discussed the benefits in application of ceramic-lined pneumatic conveyance pipework and knife gate valves with improved sealing performance to drive operational efficiency.

We were also able to help our customers with Dry Sorbent Injection lances (with quick disconnect for ease of installation, maintenance and replacement), system improvements and lime recirculation to enable environmentally conscious, efficient ash management.

Partnership in Practice

Our partnership with UCC is about combining local presence with global engineering expertise.

Together, we bring to the UK and Irish markets a comprehensive portfolio, and more importantly, we bring shared intent: delivering innovative, compliant and sustainable solutions that support long-term operational excellence.

During our 660 mile journey we built stronger customer relationships, developed deeper technical alignment and a clearer understanding of market priorities.

Sustainability and Industry, Working Together

The waste-to-energy and biomass facilities we visited are living examples of how innovation, efficiency and environmental stewardship can coexist, powering communities while driving measurable environmental performance.

Four days. Valuable conversations. Shared values.

This journey reinforced that progress happens on site, in dialogue, and through collaboration and we are working together with our partners and customers to make a difference.
